Haeinsa Temple: Bell

SOUTH KOREA, South Gyeongsang, Hapcheon; Joseon dynasty

This bell was listed as Treasure No. 1253 in 1997. The crown takes the form of twin dragons, and the upper portion of the bell has four panels with scrolled leaf borders. Within each panel are nine studs, between which stand vivid Bodhisattvas in long flowing robes. Beneath the panels are inscriptions. The next section consists of a pattern of swirling vines and leaves; this is followed by depictions of vibrant dragons with ripple designs below. Above the sound rim, there are eight trigrams.
