Naesosa Temple Great Hero Hall: Lattice Door (detail)

Naesosa Temple Great Hero Hall

SOUTH KOREA, North Jeolla, Buan

While Naesosa Temple was built by monk Hyeguduta in 633 during the Silla dynasty, the Great Hero Hall was reconstructed by monk Cheongmin in 1633 during the Joseon dynasty. It was listed as Treasure No. 291 in 1963.
The hall is three bays wide and has a single-eave hip-and-gable roof supported by multi-tier bracket sets. The bracket arms are intricately carved in different designs. The eight lattice doors at the front are carved with lotus and chrysanthemum patterns. Inside the hall the beams and columns are decorated with lotuses in splendid colors.
