Wu Han

Wu Han was a seal engraver, calligrapher, and painter from Anji, Huzhou. He also served as magistrate of Shanxi during the late Qing dynasty (1644–1911). As the second son of the famed artist, Wu Changshuo, he followed in his father’s footsteps and studied calligraphy, seal carving, and painting.
Wu specialized in seal carving, quickly developing his own style, which was mature and profound like his father’s. In his later years, Wu Changshuo entrusted his disciples, Xu Xingzhou and Wu Han, to do seal carving on his behalf. Wu’s seal works include the Buddhist inscription, Originally There Was Nothing, as well as Chuan Shen, and Anji of Huzhou, done on square seals. He also compiled Collection of the Seal-Carvings of Gutianjia.
