From the inscriptions on the murals of Phyang Monastery and Basgo Monastery, it is known that they were painted by Tontrup Lekpa, who was from Spituk of Ladakh. In Phyang Monastery, murals painted by him include the Manjusri Bodhisattva and Vajravarahi Mandala on the north wall of the central hall and Wheel of Rebirth on the left side of the east wall. Murals in the assembly hall on the first story of Maitreya Hall in Basgo Monastery include White Tara on the right side of the south wall, and the Four Heavenly Kings and Dharma Protectors flanking the entrance on the south wall.
