Gilt bronze
The Buddha stands on a lotus pedestal with a Sumeru base that balances on short legs. His left foot is advanced and the right hand is lifted up. The left hand is holding the medicine bowl that identifies this figure. A monastic robe with a rounded neck covers both shoulders and ripples down to the waist, where the material then clings about the legs. Behind the head is an openwork flame-patterned nimbus shaped like a petal and contains a circular inner rim with a honeysuckle design.
