
Ju Hui renounced in 1953 under Master Miao Ching at Yuantong Temple in Taipei. She studied at the Chinese Buddhism Tripitaka College and later became the abbess of Fawang Temple in Keelung in 1966. Ju Hui graduated from the Department of Fine Arts, Armed Forces Cultural Center, and furthered her studies at Fuxing Sinology College in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. She studied painting under the well-known artists Li Chi-Mao, Cheng Chen-Qing, and Lin Shao-Tsung. Ju Hui eventually became the fourth abbess of Yuantong Temple in Taipei in 1987.
Skilled in both calligraphy and painting, she favored creating figurative works, particularly that of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. Her painting Budai is considered highly creative. In support of charitable causes, Ju Hui often donated her works of calligraphy and paintings for auction. Her existing paintings include Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, Life of the Buddha, Cundi’s Last Offering, Self-Portrait, and Ladies. A published volume of her calligraphy and paintings was made after her death.
