Dugu Chunpeng, who had an original family name of Yang, was a monk and calligrapher from Linhai, Taizhou. He was the Dharma heir of Chan Master Huyan Jingfu of Jingshan, and later resided in various temples in Zhejiang including Lingyin Temple and Tianning Temple.
In 1310, Dugu gave Zhao Mengfu a rubbing of his work entitled Preface to the Poems Collected from the Orchid Pavilion. Zhao later carried out a month-long pivotal study on the preface and composed the Thirteen Colophons of the Orchid Pavilion, which was a highly-commended work in the history of Chinese calligraphy.
Other influential works by Dugu include Poem for Shodo Shiken, kept at the Tokiwayama Bunko Foundation in Kanagawa, Japan.
