Li Xiu

CHINA; Tang dynasty

Little is known about the sculptor, Li Xiu. He is mentioned in Records of Temples and Pagodas, which chronicles the creation of sculptures and murals in the temples of Shaanxi. It states that “There are statues of Hariti and Crown Prince Wenhui at Guangming Temple. Their postures and demeanor are lifelike. They were sculpted by Li Xiu.”
