Li Xiangkun

CHINA, Henan, Kaifeng; Northern Song dynasty

Li Xiangkun was a painter of the Northern Song dynasty (960–1127) who was well-known for his depictions of monks, Daoists figures, and immortal gods and ghosts. In collaboration with Gao Wenjin, Wang Daozhen, and Li Yongji, he repainted the murals at Xiangguo Temple in Henan in 975. Li and Li Yongji were also known to have painted an illustration of the famous Battle Between Sariputra and Raudraksa on the east door of the main hall.
