Kizil Cave 47: Disciples Making Offerings

Kizil Cave 47: Disciples Making Offerings

CHINA, Xinjiang, Aksu

This mural is located on the right wall of the rear corridor. The disciples are barefooted and wear monastic robes with their right shoulders exposed. Flames issue forth from behind their shoulders. The first disciple on the left prostrates on the ground in obeisance. The head of the figure is missing. The second disciple has a green stole which hangs from his shoulders and his palms are joined, while the third disciple raises his right hand palm up and looks toward the fourth as if in conversation. The fourth disciple stands in a graceful posture and holds his right hand at his chest. Dharma objects such as wish-fulfilling jewels and triratnas are scattered throughout the mural.
