Mogao Cave 384: Bodhisattva Making an Offering

CHINA, Gansu, Dunhuang; Tang dynasty

This figure is located on the right within the back (west) wall niche of the main chamber. The Bodhisattva has a high topknot, curved eyebrows, and a round face. A shawl is draped over the shoulders and a long lower garment is tied at the waist. The figure kneels on one leg with palms joined. The necklace and hands are partially damaged but overall the sculpture remains in good condition.
