Bezeklik Cave 42: Buddha on a Cloud

CHINA, Xinjiang, Turpan

This detailed image is one of the Thousand Buddhas images located on the ceiling of Cave 42. The Buddha faces one side and sits in full lotus position, with auspicious clouds below. He is clad in a monastic robe and forms a mudra with both hands. The Buddha is encircled by a round, multi-layer nimbus and aureole, and is surrounded by various jewel-like objects.
