Originally located on the north wall of the main chamber, this mural portrays a Jataka tale found in the Abhiniskramana Sutra, in which Sakyamuni Buddha made offerings in previous lives to Buddhas of the past. This is one of the more common themes of Buddhist art produced by the Uighurs.
The central figure in this image is a tall standing Buddha surrounded by disciples, Bodhisattvas, and figures making offerings. The Buddha is encircled by patterned nimbus and aureole, and wears a densely draped red monastic robe. The more typical portrayal of a seated Buddha in such images has been altered here to a standing Buddha, giving the illustration a larger, more impressive appearance.
