Maijishan Grotto 133: Stele 11

CHINA, Gansu, Tianshui; Northern Wei dynasty

This rectangular stele is located within Grotto 133 and has three registers. The top register contains three rows of seated Buddhas with seven figures in each row.
The middle register contains a Buddha niche in the center, housing a seated Buddha flanked by two Bodhisattvas. There is a small row of seated Buddhas at the bottom of the niche. On either side are panels of apsaras making offerings with another small Buddha niche at the bottom.
The lowest register contains four rows of seated Buddhas. The top three rows each have nine Buddhas while the bottom row contains eighteen Buddhas.
