Gilt copper alloy inlaid with turquoise and lapis lazuli
The statue has been gilded and much of the jewelry worn by the figure is inlaid with turquoise and other semi-precious stones. Among the more splendid pieces are the crown, which is topped with a vajra and has buoyant floral side pieces; the exaggerated floral earrings; and the beaded two-piece necklace.
The Bodhisattva sits in full lotus position with the head and body sinuously curving and the head tilted to one side. The thin lower garment is decorated with floral patterns and supported by a jeweled belt. A sword is brandished in the right hand while the left supports a lotus stem that blossoms at shoulder level and supports a sutra.
